Broadway leading man, television
star, and recording artist Sean McDermott has traveled the world performing with some of the most celebrated
Symphony Orchestras, sharing the stage with Bernadette Peters, Mandy Patinkin, Elaine Stritch, Hal Holbrook and Robert Goulet.
He performed for the President of the United States at the Kennedy Center, gave a command performance for Sarah Ferguson,
Duchess of York, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall & Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Most recently, Sean completed a nine
week tour of Europe as one of the four Broadway tenors singing with Barbra Streisand.
Sean studied
Musical Theatre at Loretta Heights College in Denver, Colorado. From there, he went directly to New York
to begin his performing career on Broadway. His experience on stage, in the concert hall, in the recording studio,
and on screen informs his teaching and affords his students immediate and personal access into the “real world”
of performing from one who has truly been there. His approach encourages students to develop both singing
and acting abilities, combining character development and a deeper connection to musical repertoire with a
solid, classical approach to vocal technique.
Sean’s starring roles
on Broadway include Chris in Miss Saigon, Billy Flynn in Chicago, the title roles in Jekyll and Hyde, Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, Whizzer in Falsettos, Rusty in Starlight Express, Danny Zuko in Grease, Billy Bigelow in Carousel, and Gaylord Ravenal in Showboat. Off-Broadway he played the role of Larry in the critically acclaimed revival of The Boys in the Band, and Tony in Westside Story for the Victoria State Opera in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia.
On television, Sean starred as Hart Jessup in the long running CBS Daytime Drama Guiding Light and most recently guest-starred on Charmed for the WB as Rod Dalvos and on Freddie - the Freddie Prinze, Jr. show. He has also appeared on NBC'S The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The
Rosie O’Donnell Show, and The Today Show.
