Israeli born Mezzo-Soprano and pianist Iris Malkin graduated from the Jerusalem Academy of Music with Master’s Degrees in Vocal Performance and Piano (with a Vocal Coaching emphasis), and was awarded the highly coveted America Israel Cultural Foundation Study Scholarships. She has performed with renowned Israeli musicians and performing organizations including Ensemble Kaprizma, and she has had substantial works written specifically for her.  In addition to the mainstream operatic repertoire, Iris has distinguished herself in the world of Hebrew and Jewish works as well as the highly nuanced world of Spanish song.  She has performed at the Abu Gosh Festival, the Festival of Interpretation of Spanish song in Granada, The Voice of Music in the Upper Galilee Festival, and Klangspuren Festival among others.

She has worked with such distinguished artists as Teresa Berganza, Sherrill Milnes and Miguel Zanetti, and performed under the baton of Pierre Boulez during the 2006 Lucerne Festival, including collaboration with Boulez’ celebrated Ensemble Intercontemporain. Since 2006 Iris serves on the faculty of the Assisi Music Festival in Italy as vocal coach and accompanist. Iris Malkin is a truly international artist who has performed widely in concerts and festivals in Israel, Europe, and the United States, and her performances have been broadcast worldwide.
